Other Species

This is a list of Indiana trees that we have labeled as third class due to their low demand and value on the market. These will be harvested at the landowners request if they want to make room to allow high-grade species to grow. They also might be marked by a forester according to their size, straightness, etc. which can give them more value. They are then sold to local sawmills, which use the timber for different purposes.

Low Grade Tree Species:

  • Beech
  • Black Oak
  • Cottonwood
  • Elm
  • Gum
  • Hackberry
  • Sassafras
  • Soft Maple
  • Sycamore
